TOTAL KNEE REPLACEMENT

Total Knee Replacement Surgery is one of the commonest surgeries in India. Most of the people above the age of 50 have some kind of knee pain which reduces their activity level. The pain is mostly due to arthritis which results in degradation of the knee joint. Once the pain increases then the mobility is reduced and this makes the muscles of the legs weaker.

The severe pain prevents us from physical activity and the quality of life goes down. A lot of people think that Knee Replacement means replacing the original knee joint with an artificial knee which is not true. In this surgery, only the top surface of the knee joint which has degraded is replaced by a titanium implant.

TOTAL HIP REPLACEMENT

Patients damaged hip joint either due to Osteoarthritis, Trauma, Congenital abnormality of the hip, Aseptic Necrosis, Rheumatoid Arthritis and become the ideal candidate for Total or Hemi Hip Replacement Surgery. The progressively intense chronic pain together with impairment of daily function including walking, climbing stairs, and even standing up from a sitting position eventually become reasons to consider a total hip replacement.

The severe pain prevents patients from physical activity and the quality of life goes down. A lot of people think that Hip Replacement means replacing the original hip joint with an artificial hip which is not true. In this surgery, the diseased cartilage and bone of the hip joint is surgically replaced with artificial materials.

TRAUMA MANAGEMENT

The general aim of early fracture management is to control hemorrhage, provide pain relief, prevent ischemia-reperfusion injury, and remove potential sources of contamination (foreign body and nonviable tissues). Once these are accomplished, the fracture should be reduced, and the reduction should be maintained, which will optimize the conditions for fracture union and minimize potential complications.

The goal of managing fractures is to ensure that the involved limb segment, when healed, has returned to its best possible function. In this surgery, the type of implants to bused depends on the complexity of the fractures.

ARTHROSCOPIC SURGERY

ACL or PCL injuries occur during a sports or fitness activity. The ligament gets
stretched or gets torn either partially or completely when the knee twists or
hits the hard surface accidentally. This commonly occurs in sports like
basketball, football, soccer, walking or running on uneven surface and
gymnastics, or in cases like fall from stairs or car accidents where a sudden
change in direction stresses and damages the ligament.
If you feel pain and swelling in the knee after the injury applies an ice pack and contact your Orthopedician immediately. A partial ligament tear can possibly heal with medicines and physiotherapy, but a complete tear of the ACL, PCL, or Meniscal Ligament would require Arthroscopic Surgery to repair the broken
ligament
